Kids Otsego Service Coordinator

Kids Otsego Service Coordinator

Kids Oneida, Inc., a Community-based WRAPAROUND provider of Social and Mental Health services with emphasis on treating the client in a family context, is currently seeking innovative and experienced applicants to fill multiple Kids Otsego Service Coordinator positions in the Kids Otsego program.  

The Kids Otsego Service Coordinator oversees all activities related to the development and implementation of individualized service plans in a preventive context and promotes the philosophy and missions of the company by performing the following duties:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conducts outreach to engage clients and assist families with an understanding of agency philosophy and policies.
  • Responsible to travel within the county and meet with clients within homes and schools.
  • Links clients and their families to appropriate resources and services in a timely and coordinated manner.
  • Assists the client and family with the development, implementation and monitoring of their individualized service plan of schedules meetings to review, revise and discuss such plans as required.
  • Schedules monthly team meetings with the family, service providers and any other individuals identified as a team member.
  • Acts as a liaison between client and family, agency personnel, DSS staff and other service providers as necessary and appropriate.
  • Provides advocacy for the development of services and resources that do not currently exist within the community but are deemed necessary.
  • Identifies and utilizes both formal and informal community supports and networks.
  • Completes all required documentation in a comprehensive and timely manner as required by DSS and KO regulations including mandatory face to face contacts.
  • Attends agency in-services, workshops and seminars as required.
  • Attends family court as necessary.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in human services or mental health field from four-year college or university; with at least two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Student Engagement Specialist

Kids Oneida, Inc., a Community-based WRAPAROUND provider of Social and Mental Health services with emphasis on treating the client in a family context, is currently seeking innovative and experienced applicants to fill a Student Engagement Specialist position.

The Student Engagement Specialist will support students in the GEAR UP cohort by providing the facilitation and coordination of individualized wraparound services.    Promotes the philosophy and mission of the agency by performing the following duties:

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assists in the identification, enrollment and monitoring of students in need of services.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and collaborates with teachers, therapists, other mental health staff and students in developing, implementing and monitoring individual student academic and behavioral progress and goals for identified students.
  • Works to coordinate and monitor KO SPIN Services for identified GEAR UP students in need.
  • Assists in the design, coordination, and implementation of KEY (Knowledge Empowers You) groups with identified students.
  • Serve as a liaison between families of identified youth and school officials to better engage them in their child’s educational process.
  • Collaborates with other KO programs and services that might benefit GEAR UP students.
  • Assists in the design, implementation, oversight and delivery of various truancy initiatives to ensure students remain engaged in their educational process.
  • Directs students to use positive behaviors for success in the classroom and with diverse teaching styles.
  • Support various GEAR UP initiatives by working to recruit and retain students in those program.
  • Designs, conducts and/or assists in group activities related to GEAR UP STEAM focus.
  • Support college going culture by participating in GEAR UP college visits and educational related field trips.
  • Adheres to best practices in professional ethics and boundaries.
  • Evaluates crisis situations and escalated behaviors and provide appropriate interventions and support.

Education/Experience Required:

Associates Degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field and four years relevant experience or Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field required with at least two years relevant experience in traditional and non-traditional youth service setting required.  Additional professional development in specialty areas helpful.  Ability to adjust to student, staff, and program needs.  Experience working with students with severe emotional and behavioral problems required.

Juvenile Justice Coordinator

Kids Oneida, Inc., a Community-based WRAPAROUND provider of Social and Mental Health services with emphasis on treating the client in a family context, is currently seeking innovative and experienced applicants to fill a Juvenile Justice Coordinator position.

The Juvenile Justice Coordinator works in close conjunction with NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services to oversee day-to-day implementation of the Federal Return Home Early Initiative, funded through the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention’s Second Chance Act. The Coordinator provides direct support to youth and families on their caseload, maintains partnerships with placement agencies and transitional service providers, manages data and reporting on outcomes and stays up-to-date with information related to juvenile reentry to those in the field.  Promotes the philosophy and mission of the agency by performing the following duties:

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Develops and maintains close relationships with state and regional agencies and leaders and supports increased juvenile reentry coordination and collaboration across agencies throughout the region.
  • Provides regular updates to members of the Regional Taskforce and County Committees on recent research and evidence-based practices and program models in juvenile reentry.
  • Supports youth and family representatives being served by the Second Chance grant and provides assistance as needed or identifying existing resources to ensure full participation.
  • Identifies system barriers to ensure the smooth transition of youth returning to their home community and develops a plan of action to offer resolution for system barriers with regard to various cases.
  • Develops and maintains close relationships with transitional service provider agencies including non-profits, government agencies, school districts, and other natural supports in the region.
  • Manages a caseload of Raise the Age re-entry youth and families enrolled providing consistent face-to-face contact and support while developing a close and consistent relationship with youth and families that will continue throughout the placement and return home.
  • Assesses youth progress to ensure integration and stabilization in the community through appropriate services including, but not limited to, drug treatment, medical care, job training, educational services, mentoring, mediation services, community activities and youth groups, and any other supports needed for successful re-entry and stabilization.
  • Assists the agency and community in understanding the unique needs of this population and shapes agency and community policy to better meet the needs of the clientele.
  • Participates in training efforts and agency committees as required by agency Supervisory Staff.

Education/Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from regionally accredited or NYS registered four-year college or university in social work, psychology, sociology, child development, or related field. Candidate will have full knowledge of the human service systems in Oneida County and services available to children and youth.  Candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience as a social caseworker, service coordinator, or comparable position.
