Utica, NY (Monday Feb 2 2009)
After a year of planning, fundraising and renovating, Kids Oneida has settled into a new building at 310 Main Street in downtown Utica. Located just across the street from the Children's Museum and kitty-corner from the Train Station, our new home has provided us with the opportunity to do even more in our community.
Although the process of purchasing and renovating a building was long and arduous, Chief Operating Officer Bob Roberts explains the payoff. "We decided to buy our own building mainly for economic reasons--it is much less expensive in the long haul for our organization to own rather than rent," he said. Kids Oneida designed and renovated the interior of the building to suit the needs of this growing agency and now has private offices, space for large-scale meetings and events, five meeting rooms that staff and clients can use on a daily basis, and room for expansion.
To really make the building feel like home, works of art depicting the positive impact that Kids Oneida makes on the lives of youth and families each day are displayed throughout the building. From abstract pieces to landscapes, these paintings were done by youth from the community.
Kids Oneida encourages those interested in receiving a tour of our new facilities to contact our Executive Assistant, Debbie Wormuth at 792-9039 to schedule an appointment.
